Wacom’s EMR pens (Feel IT technology) come with a wide variety of replacement nibs, and many of them look surprisingly similar. To make things easier, I put together a clean, easy-to-understand guide that helps you find exactly the nib you need.
We previously shared an article about more than eight Wacom One and Raytrektab-compatible styluses, but with so many nib types out there, it made sense to create a separate guide focused just on nib shapes. If you're hunting for the right replacement, this list will save you time—and headaches.
Note: This guide covers only EMR pens that use Wacom Feel IT Technologies, such as Wacom One, raytrektab, the Galaxy Note series, etc.
Before We Begin
Wacom doesn’t assign individual names to each nib style. Instead, nibs are generally categorized by the models they originally shipped with. Because Wacom Feel IT pens were first used in the Galaxy Note series, that’s the naming system we’ll follow here.
Each pen generation uses nibs specifically designed for that generation. If two pens are from the same generation, their nibs typically match in shape—so interchangeability may be possible, but please proceed at your own risk.
Galaxy Note 3–5 / Galaxy Note edge Nibs

These nibs are thicker than most others. They look somewhat similar to Pro Pen 2 nibs, but they’re slightly narrower.
Some users report that Pro Pen 2 nibs fit pens like the Raytrektab (2017) and Wacom One. That may be due to minor manufacturing variations—because in my tests, Pro Pen 2 nibs did not fit this generation.
Pens that use this nib style:
-
Galaxy Note edge S Pen
-
raytrektab (DG-D08IWP) standard pen
-
Wacom One Pen (CP91300B2Z)
-
Fujitsu hexagonal pen FMV-NPN19
-
Bamboo Smart Galaxy Note (CS310UK)
Compatible replacement nibs:
You can use nibs for:
-
raytrektab (DG-D08IWP) standard pen (standard/felt/elastomer)
-
Bamboo Smart CS310UK nib sets (soft/hard)
However, these nib sets are no longer in production.
Galaxy Note 8–9 Nibs

This generation introduced an ultra-slim 0.7 mm nib.
For heavy-handed writers, these nibs may feel too delicate and can even snap near the base.
Many styluses shaped like traditional wooden pencils use this nib, but because it’s so thin, sketching with the pen held horizontally—like you would with a real pencil—can be challenging.
Wacom EMR pens only register input when downward pressure is applied through the nib. Simply tilting the pen won’t draw a line.
Because the nib is so thin, angled strokes don’t always apply enough pressure to the sensor. Skilled users can compensate by controlling pressure intentionally, but it doesn’t behave as naturally as a graphite pencil.
Pens that use this nib style:
-
Galaxy Note 8 S Pen
-
Galaxy Note 9 S Pen
-
Galaxy Book 12.0 S Pen
-
Staedtler Noris Digital (180 22-1)
-
Mitsubishi Pencil 9800 Digital
-
Hi-uni Digital for Wacom
Compatible replacement nibs:
Nibs originally designed for Galaxy Note 10 and later.
Galaxy Note 10 and Newer Nibs

Samsung seems to have recognized that the 0.7 mm nib was too fragile.
So in this generation, they increased the overall nib thickness back to Note 8 levels, while redesigning the tip to be sharper and more precise.
The thicker body makes it easier to sketch with the pen at an angle, providing a more natural drawing feel.
Interestingly, although the tip is sharper, the diameter matches Wacom One nibs—meaning Wacom One replacement nibs work perfectly as alternatives (as long as you don’t mind a rounded tip).
Pens that use this nib style:
-
Galaxy Note 10 S Pen
-
Galaxy Note 20 S Pen
-
Galaxy Tab S7 Pen
As of late 2020, original replacement nibs for Galaxy Note 10 are no longer sold.
Affordable third-party nibs are available overseas—search “Galaxy Note 10 Nibs” on eBay and you’ll find plenty.

You can also simply use Wacom One nibs, which are easy to find and fully compatible.
Nib Material Types
Standard (POM) Nibs
Made from durable POM plastic—these are the classic hard nibs that come preinstalled on Wacom tablets and displays.
Elastomer Nibs
Rubber-like texture with high friction for more control.
On screens with protectors, elastomer tips may leave temporary marks (which wipe off easily).
Other Notes
Some older devices (e.g., Galaxy Note 10.1 (2012), Bamboo Stylus feel) used unique nib shapes that are now obsolete.
A few pens, like the 10-inch Raytrektab stylus, have non-replaceable nibs. Once the nib wears out, the entire pen must be replaced.
Oh—and in case you’re wondering:

Galaxy Note 6 was skipped entirely

Galaxy Note 7 was recalled due to battery issues
